Lost In My Passion

Hey Humans!

I may be a student studying music therapy, but I have a passion out of music that I love so much. I love anything related with editing on computers. Whether it is image, audio, or video editing, I just love it. But what can I edit if I take nothing to edit? Obviously it also means that I love taking pictures, recording audio and videos. Out of all of them, I love recording and editing videos the most. I may not be that good yet, but when I start to edit it makes me happy.

I don’t exactly know what made me start to like editing. But I remember one day, my brother was on the computer and he had a new program called ‘Adobe Premiere’. I didn’t know what it was, and he told me it was a video editing program. I opened it and I just lingered around. No one taught me anything, even my brother. I remember my very first proud edit was using a Paramore music video and changing the audio into an Ashley Tisdale song. I think that was in the year 2007.

Ever since then, I started to record and edit more videos. In school projects I’m usually the one in the group who does the recordings and editing. One of my biggest project in school was to make a whole 45 minute drama dubbing with sound effects. The actors will be lip syncing throughout the drama. The audio was blasted in a field at school and I was the one and only audio manager.

Back to video editing… In 2010 I decided to put up my very first youtube video singing Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’. I played the guitar and violin. I started to be serious on my youtube videos and made a new channel called ‘Random Syra’. And that is my blog name. I will continue to make videos even if no one watches them (but of course I would love it if people watch them!). I just got a new video up, and you can check out my other videos in my channel. Don’t forget to leave your tracks by liking, subscribing, and commenting!

Cya soon,

Syra 🙂

Music? I have no interest.

Hey Humans!

The sun set between the buildings around me. It has been a cold windy day. As the sun set, the moon shown itself covered by the clouds. I couldn’t see the moon clearly, but it shined bright through the clouds. I was sure it was a full moon.

I came home from university after a long day of music classes. It wasn’t a burden for me, because I purely love music. Every time I get back to my dorm I would turn on my computer and stereo, what do I do? I turn on some music. I’m a lover of almost all genre there is, I have no specific favorites. But this evening was different, I had no interest in music. Not even the music I listen to all the time, ‘Thinking Out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran or ‘Uptown Funk’ by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars. I knew it wasn’t normal, but I didn’t care.

Once I got in my dorm room, I put down my violin case and took a shower. After shower I got on my computer and opened up the web browser. The first thing I usually do is open the video streaming website, but I didn’t, in fact it made me mad. What I did then was playing online games. The games were fun. But the thing was I hated the sound and music, I played in mute. My life became a bore, the vibration of music did not interest me anymore.

THE END

That was a weird random story… That would be me if the full moon changed me into a whole new person who hated music. Music has always been a part of my life, and has always been there for me. I would never live without it. Music is like the salt to my french fries, the ingredient that completes the taste, my life.

Uni Rant

Hey Humans!

I’m at the point in my life what all teenagers would always dream of, university. Back in high school I couldn’t wait to go to university. I was excited to look for programs I could study. I ended up taking music therapy, a new field of study  in Indonesia. Music therapy is under the Conservatory of Music.

When I first started, it was at all not how I expected. I’m not talking about the classes, I’m talking about the socializing. Throughout the first year we have to take the liberal arts classes, and the class is full of the first year Conservatory of Music students. They’re not at all my type, which I thought would for people with quite the same dream. Maybe it’s the introvert in me. I only stick with a few friends who knkws me and understand me well. And I’m fine with that.

I have a reason why I’m here. I’m here to study music and most importantly, music therapy. They’re all here for the same reason too. I’ll just sit back, be patient, and shut my mouth while I watch them chatter.

The university life is still all new to me. I love it despite the people. I get to be more responsible in life since now I live on my own and I get to be one step closer to my dreams. If I was to ask, would you want to go to university again and get another degree? I would love to, I love what I’m learning. But if I were asked if I want to go back on the first year of university, no thanks!

Cya soon,

Syra 🙂
